The Brief
Fyntra is a free personal finance tracker that works offline without an account. Financial data lives on the phone.
Signing in with Google is optional, and only needed to back up to a hidden app folder in your own Google Drive or to sync between phones. It works in English and Bangla.
What I Built
- 01
Offline First
Local SQLite under an Expo and React Native app, so every feature works with no connection and no account.
- 02
Sync Without Custody
Backups and phone-to-phone sync run through the user's own Google Drive. The small Hono and MongoDB backend only knows who signed in; it never receives financial data.
- 03
Built for Here
English and Bangla throughout, and accounts that include mobile wallets like bKash, each in its own currency.
The Story
The Challenge
Keep money data private and offline-first, yet let people move between phones without trusting a server with their finances.
The Approach
Expo and React Native over local SQLite, a shared core, and a Hono and MongoDB backend, with backups written to the user's own Google Drive.
The Outcome
In development since October 2026, with its website already live.

What It Does
- 01
Every Account Together
Cash, bank accounts, cards and mobile wallets like bKash, each in its own currency, with a combined total.
- 02
Insights and Budgets
Monthly breakdowns, month-over-month comparisons and warnings before you overspend.
- 03
Savings Goals
Pick a target date and get the monthly amount to save.
- 04
Repeating Transactions
Rent, salary or subscriptions on repeat, with a reminder on the due date.
- 05
People and Loans
Track money owed to and by others, and the repayments.
- 06
Receipt Photos
Attach a photo of the receipt to any transaction.
- 07
Import and Export
Bring in CSV files from banks or other apps and export everything.
- 08
Private by Design
No account required, no ads or trackers. Backups go to your Google Drive, not a server.
